A transmission jack lets you remove and install transmissions, transfer cases and other drivetrain components safely, without balancing hundreds of pounds on a floor jack. Every jack here ships free.

High-lift or low-lift?

High-lift (telescopic) transmission jacks are built for work under a raised vehicle. They stand tall, telescope up to the drivetrain, and are the right choice if you have a two-post or four-post lift.

Low-lift (floor style) transmission jacks sit low and are made for vehicles on jack stands or over a pit. They are a good fit for home garages without a lift.

What to look for

  • Capacity: 1,000 lb covers most car and light truck transmissions. Heavy-duty trucks and powertrain work call for 1,500 lb and up.
  • Tilt adjustment: forward, back and side tilt make lining up bolt holes much easier.
  • Pump style: foot pumps keep your hands free, and air-assisted models raise the load faster.
  • Adapters: fuel tank handlers, clutch adapters and adapter plates turn one jack into a multi-purpose drivetrain tool.
