Questions We
Hear Every Day

Straight answers to the questions customers ask us most, on the phone and on our Daleville showroom floor.

Visiting & Buying

Where is your showroom, and what are your hours?

Our showroom is at 9175 S. Innovation Drive in Daleville, Indiana, about 35 minutes northeast of Indianapolis. Walk-ins are welcome Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon (Eastern Time), and Sundays are available by appointment. You can walk the floor and see more than 50 machines set up and running before you buy.

Can I see a lift or machine before I buy if I can't make it to the showroom?

Yes. We recommend visiting in person, but if you're too far away, we can do a live FaceTime video walkthrough of any machine on our showroom floor.

Should I buy a two-post or a four-post lift?

It depends on how you'll use it. Two-post lifts leave the wheels hanging free, so they're best for brake, suspension, and tire work. Four-post lifts are drive-on, which makes them great for vehicle storage, oil changes, and general maintenance, and most don't need to be bolted to the floor. Many of our customers buy one of each. Call us or stop by and we'll help you match the lift to your space and vehicles.

Do you keep equipment in stock?

Yes. We work hard to stock what's on our floor and in our warehouse, and many items are ready to ship or pick up. If something needs to be ordered, it typically takes about 7 to 10 days. Call to check current availability on the model you want.

Shipping & Pickup

Do you ship, and how much does it cost?

Yes, we ship nationwide. Freight cost depends on the equipment and your zip code, so give us a call or send your zip code and we'll get you a quote, usually the same day. In-stock items typically arrive within about a week.

What do I need to unload a delivered lift?

Lifts ship on a 53-foot semi trailer. The truck may have a liftgate, but most lifts are too heavy for it, so you'll need a forklift, skid steer, tractor with forks, or similar equipment to unload. The freight carrier will call ahead to schedule your delivery window. No forklift? You can pick up at a nearby freight terminal instead.

Can I pick up my equipment at the showroom?

Absolutely, and many customers do. We have forklifts on site and will load your trailer for you. Most four-post lift packages are 16 to 17 feet long and won't fit in a pickup bed, so bring a car trailer or flatbed. We can load from the side or the end. Saturday mornings are busy for pickups, so a quick call ahead helps.

Do your lift prices include installation?

No. Our prices are for the equipment only. We can refer you to an experienced independent installer in many areas, and you pay the installer directly. Installation pricing depends on the lift and your location, so ask us for a referral and estimate.

Your Space

How thick does my concrete need to be?

For most two-post lifts up to about 10,000 lbs, you need at least 4 inches of concrete rated at 3,000 PSI or higher. For heavier two-post lifts (12,000 lbs and up), plan on at least 6 inches. Anchors come with the lift. Most four-post lifts sit on the floor without anchoring, so concrete requirements are minimal. Always check the manual for your specific model.

How tall does my ceiling need to be?

Measure your ceiling height and compare it to the lift's overall height listed on the product page. Some two-post lifts have adjustable column heights to fit lower ceilings. For a four-post storage lift, subtract the height of the vehicle on top from your ceiling height to see how much clearance you'll have underneath. If you're unsure, send us your measurements and we'll help.

Will it fit my garage?

Will my dually or 3/4-ton truck fit on your lifts?

Drive-through width is the most important number. Dually trucks like the Ford F-350 Super Duty are about 94 to 96 inches wide, so they need a wider, heavier-duty lift than a half-ton pickup or car. Measure from the outside of one tire to the outside of the other and give us a call. We'll point you to the models that fit.

What kind of power do your lifts need?

Many of our four-post lifts run on standard 110V power. Most two-post lifts use a 220V single-phase power unit. You can hardwire the lift or add a plug. Check the specifications on each product page for the exact voltage and breaker size.

Payment & Tax

Do you offer financing?

We don't offer in-house financing, but you have two options. You can apply online through our website checkout, or business customers with purchases over $5,000 can work with our equipment financing partner. Call us and we'll connect you.

Financing options

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check, and major credit cards.

Do I pay sales tax?

Equipment picked up at our Indiana showroom is subject to Indiana sales tax (7%). For shipped orders, sales tax depends on your state. If you're tax exempt, send us your exemption or resale certificate before checkout and we'll apply it.

Products & Certification

What is ALI certification, and do I need it?

ALI (Automotive Lift Institute) certification means a lift model has been independently tested to the ANSI/ALI ALCTV and ANSI/UL 201 safety standards. Truman carries both ALI-certified and non-certified lifts, so you can choose what fits your needs and budget. Not every lift we sell is certified, and certification is listed on the product page only for models that carry it. You can confirm any model's current status in the ALI Directory of Certified Lifts at autolift.org.

Requirements differ from place to place. Some commercial shops, insurers, landlords, and local building codes require certified lifts, while many home garages have no such requirement. Before you buy, check with your local building department, insurer, or property owner to find out what permits, inspections, or certifications apply to your location and intended use.

What warranty comes with your equipment?

Warranty coverage varies by brand and model and is listed on each product page. Our in-house technicians support our customers with troubleshooting and replacement parts.

Do you sell replacement parts and accessories?

Yes. We sell replacement parts and accessories for the equipment we carry, including Bright, Atlas, and Rotary Solutions. Call us with your model number and we'll find what you need.

No matching questions. Call or text us at 765-544-3838 and we'll answer it.

Still have a question?

Most of our customers call before they buy. Talk to someone who knows the equipment.
